Art Trouve’ means found art. The copper etching for this image was found in a basement in San Jean-de-Luz, a town in southern France. It had lain in its hiding place for more than a century. The etching came to the US in 1992 in a much deteriorated condition and was gifted to the artist. The Artist restored and completed the image by augmenting the preexisting landscape design within the circle. With mezzotint technique he incorporated the original landscape into the finished work depicting a decorative plate on a display stand.
